Bhutan

Bhutan lies in the eastern Himalayas, where the land rises sharply from subtropical foothills in the south to high mountain ranges in the north. Fast-flowing rivers cut deep valleys through the centre, separating forested ridges and small areas of level ground. The landscape ranges from broadleaf forests and bamboo-covered slopes to alpine meadows, glaciers, and snow-covered peaks above 7,000 metres.
