Japan

Japan is an island country in East Asia, extending in a long arc along the Pacific coast of the continent. Its four main islands—Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu, and Shikoku—are joined by thousands of smaller islands, with mountains covering much of the land. Mount Fuji rises west of Tokyo, while forests, volcanic lakes, and deeply indented coastlines shape the landscape from the cool north to the subtropical south.
