North Korea

North Korea occupies the northern part of the Korean Peninsula, with coastlines on both its eastern and western sides. Mountains and forested uplands cover much of the country, while wider plains lie mainly along the western coast. Mount Paektu, the country’s highest peak, has a lake in its volcanic crater, and numerous rivers run from the interior highlands towards the sea.
