South Korea

South Korea occupies the southern part of the Korean Peninsula, with coastlines on three sides and thousands of islands lying mainly off its western and southern shores. Mountains cover much of the interior, while wider plains spread along the west and south. Jeju Island, formed by volcanic activity, is home to Hallasan, the country's highest mountain.
