Nepal

Nepal rises from the lowland Terai plains to the high Himalayas, creating one of the world's steepest changes in elevation across a relatively short distance. Eight of the world's fourteen highest mountains stand within the country, including Mount Everest, while deep river valleys cut through the ranges. Forests, alpine meadows, glaciers, and high-altitude lakes shape the landscape between the plains and the peaks.
