About
Taiwan is an island in East Asia, lying between the East China Sea, Philippine Sea, and South China Sea. Mountain ranges run along much of its eastern side, rising to the summit of Yu Shan, while broad plains stretch along the western coast. Its landscapes also include steep gorges, forested slopes, volcanic terrain in the north, and smaller islands scattered across the surrounding waters.
