About
Haiti occupies the western third of Hispaniola in the Caribbean and includes several smaller islands, among them Gonâve and Tortuga. Mountain ranges cover much of the country, broken up by narrow coastal plains and the Artibonite Valley. Its landscape also includes Lake Azuéi, the Artibonite River, and a deeply indented coastline around the Gulf of Gonâve.
