Nicaragua

Nicaragua lies between the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, with a chain of volcanoes and large freshwater lakes shaping its western landscape. Lake Nicaragua, the largest lake in Central America, contains hundreds of islands, while nearby Lake Managua is surrounded by volcanic peaks. Farther east, the land gives way to broad lowlands crossed by rivers and covered in tropical forest.
