Pessac, Mérignac, and Bordeaux are among the cities seeing the most significant anomalies. Eastern France is seeing highs near 32.7°C, running roughly 4.0°C above the seasonal normal. Troyes, Dijon, and Reims are among the cities seeing the most significant anomalies.

Heat of this kind is most taxing in the hours either side of mid-afternoon. Staying hydrated, easing back on strenuous activity during the peak, and checking on older neighbors and anyone living alone all help. None of this is unusual for a French summer, but the margin above normal is what makes the next few days worth watching.
Conditions should settle back toward seasonal values later in the week as the ridge of high pressure loosens its hold.
