Cameroon lies in Central Africa, where the Gulf of Guinea coast rises through rainforest and highlands toward the Lake Chad basin in the north. Volcanic Mount Cameroon stands near the coast as the country’s highest point, while the Sanaga River crosses much of the interior. Landscapes range from mangroves and dense southern forests to open grasslands and the drier savanna of Waza National Park.
