British Indian Ocean Territory

The British Indian Ocean Territory lies in the central Indian Ocean and consists of the Chagos Archipelago, a scattered group of low-lying coral islands. Its many islands are arranged around atolls and lagoons, with Diego Garcia forming the largest landmass. Coral reefs, shallow banks, seagrass beds, and deep ocean waters create a varied marine environment inhabited by seabirds, sea turtles, and tropical fish.
