Mauritius

Mauritius lies in the Indian Ocean, east of Madagascar, with its main island forming part of the Mascarene Islands. Volcanic mountains rise above a broad central plateau, while rivers run towards a coast edged by lagoons and coral reefs. Forested uplands, waterfalls, and steep-sided peaks shape the interior, and Rodrigues and several smaller islands extend the country across a wider area of the ocean.
