Rwanda

Rwanda lies in the Great Lakes region of East Africa, where steep hills and high plateaus shape much of the landscape. Lake Kivu stretches along the west, while the volcanic Virunga Mountains rise in the northwest and include some of the country’s highest peaks. Farther south and east, the forests of Nyungwe give way to the lakes, wetlands, and open savanna of Akagera.
