Sierra Leone

Sierra Leone lies on the Atlantic coast of West Africa, where sandy shores and mangrove-lined estuaries meet low coastal plains. Around Freetown, the forested mountains of the Sierra Leone Peninsula rise sharply beside the sea. Farther inland, the land becomes a mix of rolling plains, wooded hills, and high ground, including the Loma Mountains and Mount Bintumani, the country’s highest point.
