Bulgaria

Bulgaria lies in southeastern Europe, with the Balkan Mountains crossing the centre and the broad Danube Plain stretching to the north. The Rila and Pirin ranges rise in the southwest, where Musala is the country’s highest peak, while the Maritsa River flows through the Thracian Plain. To the east, a long Black Sea coast includes sandy beaches, rocky headlands, and wetlands around several coastal lakes.
