Croatia

Croatia stretches along the eastern Adriatic, with a long coastline and more than a thousand islands and islets. The Dinaric Alps rise behind much of the coast, while the interior opens into rolling hills, forests, and broad river valleys toward the Pannonian Plain. At Plitvice, turquoise lakes are linked by waterfalls, while Paklenica cuts deep limestone canyons through the mountains near the coast.
