North Macedonia

North Macedonia is a landlocked country in southeastern Europe, set among mountain ranges, broad valleys, and deep river basins. The Vardar River crosses the country from north to south, passing through the central valley on its way towards the Aegean Sea. Lake Ohrid and Lake Prespa lie in the southwest, while the Šar Mountains rise along the northwest and contain some of the country’s highest peaks.
