Serbia

Serbia lies in Southeast Europe, where the Pannonian Plain in the north gives way to hills and mountains farther south. The Danube crosses the country and meets the Sava at Belgrade, while the Iron Gates gorge cuts through the landscape in the east. Forests, river valleys, limestone caves, and the peaks of Kopaonik and Stara Planina shape much of the country beyond its northern plains.
